Growing, spinning and weaving dreams

We are Indigenous women of the Pastos people. We weave in guanga, agujeta, agujones and macramé, bringing out the symbols of our people in every garment.

Women of the territory

In guanga weaving we set down the wisdom, the knowledge and the experience of the elders and knowledge keepers of the Mueses reservation.

We are women between 15 and 65 years old, of the Pastos people. We work through Mingas de Pensamiento Artísticas, gatherings where we share the word, the food, the music and the life stories of the women of the territory.

“There must be a balance between mind, body and spirit in order to be, think, feel, live together and weave beautifully.”

Crafts and knowledge

The ancestral knowledge kept in the loom

Guanga weaving is the foundation of the group. Over time we have explored agujeta, agujones and macramé to create new garments.

  • Guanga weaving

The association’s main technique, inherited from the elder women, used for chumbes, ruanas and blankets.

  • Agujeta and macramé

With agujeta, agujones and macramé we widen what we offer: scarves, bags, hats, bracelets and accessories.

  • Pastos symbolism

Every garment carries the symbols of our people, as do the dance costumes and the Kolla Raymi dress.

  • Teaching the children

We share guanga weaving with the children and young people of the reservation alongside the Santa Teresita school.
